We’ve had a great response on campus to several recent articles put out by the Boston Globe on our groundbreaking Keys to Degrees program, designed to allow single parents to participate in the full college experience by living on a campus that supports their needs and the needs of their child. Travis left all of the Endicott students that attended his event with the feeling of inspiration. Travis Roy taught us that anything is possible regardless of the challenges life may present; the only thing that matters is if you decide to conquer the challenge or let the challenge conquer you.
The Endicott Alumni Mentoring Program matches Endicott undergrads with successful alumni working in their fields for one-on-one career mentoring. Mentors help students learn more about their fields, and in turn, students update mentors on campus life and re-acquaint them with the campus community. Read on to learn about the mentorships of Amanda Schubert and Kirsten Smith, who both graduated this past spring.
At Summer Orientation this past weekend, our Student Affairs folks and the New Student Mentors used a fun new tool to interact with attending students. The website PollEverywhere.com allowed presenters at orientation to collect instant feedback via text on a variety of subjects from ‘what will you miss the most when you leave home?’ to ‘how often are you on Facebook?’ Interspersed with conversations about make good decisions, setting expectations, learning new things, and settling in amidst a new environment and a new community, these polls tell us a bit about what issues are important to incoming college students.
